About Me
I grew up on the Louisiana side of east Texas and made my way to the Texas side about 40 years ago with no plans for leaving. I was trained as a clinical nurse specialist and practiced 15 years in pediatric surgery and pediatric enterostomal therapy nursing. After nursing, I ventured into the culinary arts as a catering chef and served thousands of meals in a multitude of settings from dining rooms in private homes to wall tents on mountain tops. Sewing, embroidery, and photography have been long term hobbies that overlapped then overtook catering as my means of artistic expression. Along the way, yellow Labrador retrievers have been my constant companions and each phase of artistic growth has loosely paralleled the life of one or more dogs. I cooked with Lucy, spent time sewing, quilting, and learning embroidery with Ethel, then focused my photography skills with Skeeter. They’re my mascots and the namesake for this venture. The dogs are all related, and so are my skills. You’ll see!
